Dr. Mikél Muse, DO, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Beaverton Mohs surgeon providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology care at Frontier Dermatology in Beaverton, Oregon. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer, advanced skin surgery, and reconstructive techniques for cosmetically and functionally sensitive areas of the body. Originally from the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Dr. Muse earned her undergraduate degree in Public Health Studies from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Before pursuing medicine, she worked as an HIV counselor at a homeless shelter and as a medical assistant in a Mohs surgery office, experiences that sparked her passion for dermatology and patient-centered skin cancer care.
Dr. Muse attended the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, completing her medical training in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Blacksburg, Virginia. She then completed her dermatology residency through Campbell University in Wilmington, North Carolina, and conducted dermatology research at Wake Forest University, where she gained additional experience managing complex skin diseases and skin cancers. After residency, Dr. Muse practiced general dermatology before completing a one-year fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery. This advanced training focused on the precise removal of skin cancers and reconstruction of delicate areas such as the face, ears, and hands, allowing her to optimize both cancer clearance and cosmetic outcome for her patients. She takes a compassionate, collaborative approach to care, ensuring patients feel informed and supported throughout their treatment.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Muse enjoys hiking, exploring the local food scene, spending time on her father’s fishing boat, and walking her dog, Kiwi. She looks forward to building long-term relationships with patients and providing expert dermatologic care to the Beaverton community.
