Ultherapy

WHAT IS ULTHERAPY®?

Ultherapy is a new type of non-surgical, non-invasive procedure for the face that uses ultrasound and the body’s own natural healing process to lift, tone, and tighten loose skin. The FDA-cleared device used in the procedure utilizes the safe, time-tested energy of ultrasound to stimulate the deep structural support layers of the skin—including those typically addressed in a surgical facelift—without disturbing the surface of the skin.Unlike lasers, which penetrate the skin from the outside-in, Ultherapy bypasses the surface of the skin, specifically targeting the deep, structural skin tissues where collagen lives.

Using ultrasound technology, Ultherapy actually works from the inside-out to lift and tighten skin non-invasively.

In some ways, Ultherapy is just like an ultrasound imaging procedure that expectant mothers may receive. A smooth handpiece is placed on your skin and an image of the tissue beneath is projected on a screen. This allows your physician to “see” where they will treat your skin.

But here’s the difference: with Ultherapy, that same handpiece is also used to deliver tiny deposits of focused ultrasound energy at just the right depth below the skin, to the same foundational layer typically addressed in a surgical facelift.

What areas of the body can be treated with Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is commonly used to treat the face, neck, and décolletage areas. It can address sagging skin, wrinkles, and fine lines in these areas, providing a non-surgical alternative to traditional facelift procedures.

Is Ultherapy safe?

Ultherapy is considered a safe and FDA-approved procedure for skin tightening and lifting. It is suitable for most skin types and tones. However, as with any cosmetic procedure, there may be some mild side effects, such as redness, swelling, or tingling, which typically resolve within a few days after treatment.

What can I expect during and after an Ultherapy treatment?

During an Ultherapy treatment session, ultrasound gel is applied to the skin, and the Ultherapy device is used to deliver focused ultrasound energy to the targeted areas. Patients may experience some discomfort or tingling sensations during the procedure, but it is generally well-tolerated. Afterward, there may be mild redness or swelling, but most people can resume their normal activities immediately following the treatment. Results gradually improve over several months as collagen production is stimulated, with optimal results typically visible within 3 to 6 months after treatment.
